The volunteers at St. Vincent De Paul help our Friends in Need during challenging times. In teams of two, we visit those in need, lift them up in prayer, and when possible, offer financial assistance with rent or utilities. Our financial assistance is meant to offer help during a challenging time; however, it is not the solution for long-term stability. We are thankful that community organizations, such as Mid Central Illinois Community Action (MCCA) exist to help.
Mid Central Community Action provides guidance to those who are struggling to obtain and maintain permanent, safe, and affordable stable housing. Through a program called Housing Stability Navigator, they can:
- Connect you with local resources throughout the area that can help
- Offer coordinated case management to help you achieve housing stability
- Determine if you quality for assistance with rent or rental deposit
It is highly recommended that those in need visit the MCCA at open “intake days” that occur throughout the year. These are free, open enrollment days where you can talk with a case manager who can get you registered for assistance and start the process.
Enrollment days in 2024 are:
- March 29
- April 12 & 26
- May 10 & 24
- June 7 & 21
- July 5 & 19
- August 2, 16 & 30
- September 13 & 27
- October 11 & 25
- November 8 & 22
To qualify for support, one must have a steady and documented source of income which can be from social security, employment, or an alternative verifiable source. One must have a certain amount of income to be eligible as well, which can be discussed with the agency support staff.
The Mid Central Community Action office is located at 1301 W. Washington, Bloomington, IL. We would recommend that you call to confirm the Intake Day Date and Times and ask what exact documentation you need to bring. Unless you have the appropriate documentation, you may not be able to register. For more information, call 309-829-0691 or visit their website.
